  • April 29, 2008: Baby Blanket Day at St. Joseph Medical Center
It's Baby Blanket Day at St. Joseph Medical Center and you are invited! This is the day we set aside to sew receiving blankets to give to every baby born at St. Joe's and it is lots of fun! In 2007 St. Joe's delivered over 150 babies. We can use your help for any amount of time on Tuesday, April 29 between the hours of 10 and 2. Bring your sewing machine, serger, cutting mats and rotary cutters, iron and ironing board or just yourself. Last year we made 222 flannel receiving blankets in 3 1/2 hours. The need for these blankets is much more than you can imagine and it is amazing to see rows of machines humming in the conference rooms with all the chatter of lots of happy people working on a fun and easy project. Can't sew or be there all day? This year the hospital administrative staff is going to be grilling hamburgers and cheeseburgers on the west lawn of the hospital for the community and all of the money raised will go to purchase more baby blanket supplies. Lunch will be served so please make a reservation.
