Flathead Lake Biological Station

Description: The Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS) is a University of Montana Center of Excellence that conducts ecological research with an emphasis on fresh water, particularly Flathead Lake and the Flathead watershed. The Bio Station also provides field ecology courses for college students, natural resource professionals and educators from around the nation; trains graduate students for professional and teaching careers; and provides scientific data, interpretation and outreach to help resolve environmental problems and inform public policy. Founded in 1899, FLBS is one of the oldest active biological field research stations in the Untied States. It is located at Yellow Bay on the East Shore of Flathead Lake. Facilities are available for rent to groups with an academic or research objective.

Flathead Lake Blues Festival

Description:

Flathead Lake Blues Festival, the "dba" For Festivals On the Flathead, is a non-profit community and civic organization begun in 2010 to build an annual music Festival For Polson and to spearhead the development of community amphitheater at Salish Point Park.  This group (FLBF) has successfully organized and put on 5 Blues Festivals since 2011 and is working closely with the Salish Point Committee for the betterment and development of Salish Point Park.  FLBF has since expanded its mission to include the Foundation of a Student Instrument Fund to place band instruments in the hands of needy but serious student musicians.  FLBF is always in need of additional volunteers to join our efforts to build a board based community organization.  Our annual Blues Festival is the 3rd weekend in August each year, which in 2016 will be August 19-20.
