Go pioneering!
Visit the Polson-Flathead Historical
Museum on Main Street and share in the
heritage of the Mission Valley and
Flathead Lake. Take a few minutes or a
few hours and rub elbows with Flathead
history, finding fascinating displays of
the hardy valley homesteaders, steam
boaters, cattle ranchers, the
development of Polson, as well as a
pictorial history of the construction of
Kerr Dam, area wildlife, and Indian
artifacts.
Visit the Miracle of America Museum on
highway 93 and see the Paul Bunyan, a
logging tow that operated for many years
on Flathead Lake. Step back in time and
walk through early 1900’s homesteads,
farms, mercantile, and old school houses
preserved in their original state.
Visit The People’s Center in Pablo and
experience the life of the original
“Made in Montana” by encountering the
ways of the region’s original creators
of fine arts, crafts, and culture – the
Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d’Oreille
people of the Flathead Indian
Reservation.
Take a hike!
Blacktail Mountain: 45 miles north of
Polson, Blacktail Mountain is worth the
drive. Set in over 1,000
northeast-facing acres of National
Forest with eye-popping views of the
Rocky Mountains and the Flathead Valley,
Blacktail’s ski slopes are the perfect
place to hike in the summer.
Kerr Dam: Located seven miles out of
town, Kerr Dam boasts beautiful views of
Flathead River with a breathtaking
viewpoint and trail.
Lands of the Flathead Reservation: Visit
the Tribal Natural Resources Department
on Main Street for maps and hiking
trails.
The National Boise Range in Moiese:
Established in 1908, the National Bison
Range is one of the oldest Wildlife
Refuges in the nation. The Range
consists of prairie, forests, wetlands,
and streams providing a wide range of
habitats for wildlife. Elk, deer,
pronghorn, black bear, coyote, and
ground squirrels are just some of the
mammals that share the area with bison
and over 200 species of birds.
Wildhorse Island: You will need a boat
to get there but Wildhorse Island won’t
disappoint! Framed by the shimmering
glacial waters of Flathead Lake and the
high-rising peaks of the Mission
Mountain, the island is a rare image of
the peaceful rhythms of nature.
Float the river!
The beautiful and mighty Flathead River
flows through the towering rack walls of
the Flathead Canyon. With water levels
ranging as high as 45,000 cubic feet per
second, this river pulses through the
canyon with a power that inspires awe as

Get in some green time!
Golf was never this relaxing, but then
again, no other course has this view!
Stop by the Polson Country Club to play
a few rounds or hit a few buckets. Green
fees are around $28 for 18 holes and $15
for 9 holes, but may go up in late June
or early July. Still, if you are a
golfer, or thinking about becoming one,
the Polson Country Club is not to be

Rent a boat and explore Flathead
Lake!
The best places on the lake to rent
personal watercraft, including boats,
kayaks, canoes, deck boats, or jet skis
are Arrowhead RV Resort in Elmo

into sightseeing along the shore or
cutting some wakes on a jet ski, one of
