Free showings of Every Brilliant Thing, “a hilarious, powerful and timely play that shines a light on all the things that make life worth living,” will be playing the Mission Valley, for one day only, on Tuesday, November 12. Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Montana, Montana Dakota Utilities, and Town Pump have all contributed to support the Montana tour of this production

Audiences are invited to attend a 2:00 matinee at Polson’s log Theatre on the Lake, or a 7:00 pm showing at The Johnny Arlee Victor Charlo Theatre on the  SKC campus in Pablo. Both theatres open a half hour before the show. No reservations are necessary, admission is first come first served. Freewill donations go to benefit LOCAL resources for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.

Written by award-winning British playwright Duncan Macmillan with UK comedian Jonny Donahoe, EVERY BRILLIANT THING is a powerful show that explores mental health, families and the ways we love, in a hilarious and uplifting show for adults and teenagers.

Macmillan said he aimed to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness by creating new ways to discuss it openly – and by making people laugh. “We wanted to talk about depression in a way that was accurate and which didn’t alienate an audience.”

Every Brilliant Thing co-creator Donahue described the play as, “The funniest thing you’ll ever see about the least funny thing in the world.” As he says, “You cannot get through life without an experience of depression, whether that means suffering from it yourself or knowing a loved one who is going through it. Hopefully we’ve built something that makes that just a tiny bit easier.”

The Montana tour of the show originated with Helena’s Grandstreet Theatre and features performers Rosie Seitz Ayers, slated to perform the 2:00 matinee in Polson, and Ryan Eggensperger, who will appear at the 7:00 pm Pablo show on the SKC campus.

Grandstreet’s Managing Director Kal Poole commented, “There are many folks who deal with mental health issues across the state and unfortunately we have the highest rate of suicide per capita in the nation. The beauty of Every Brilliant Thing is that it takes the same downward spiraling impulses that people have and changes the direction. This show encourages spiraling up and becoming obsessed with gratitude and beauty in everyday moments. That message has resonated with audiences throughout Montana.”

Free showings of Every Brilliant Thing are slated for Tuesday, November 12, at Polson’s log Theatre on the Lake (2 pm matinee), and at the Johnny Arlee Victor Charlo Theatre on the SKC Campus at 7:00 pm.
